In comment on the college -the food waste regarding the nonsensical “team building” exercise could probably feed a small village.

The students reps of the school are basically just a way for the college to pat itself on the back for completing its basic functions while everyone smiles with no critiques.

The weeks of business and entrepreneurship are basically a joke which even the teachers acknowledge by allowing us to sit around or create our own unrelated intellectual debates or studies. True story, we talked about euthanasia (not that the teacher cared, complete student lead).

Sure the college “cares” but it’s mostly just a general sort of platitude -it cares more about image than effect.

Also it would be nice if the receptionists didn’t smoke outside.

U pay 20-25£k a year for this college, the members are all very friendly until u ask them to change how things are run (as an example students have problems in class. not having enough information so that they can get a better understanding of a topic, and they raise this complaint to the teacher and support teachers (who report it following the correct chain of command) and nothing happens, the teacher just says "yeah nooo I don't do it this way, students need to learn how to learn") and so the parents of students or even the students themselves pay this big amount of money just to go to a college where the teachers play dictator instead of preparing the students for University. And there are more examples of this behavior but it boils down to teachers expect students to put in all the work while teachers get paid a high salary of £67,413 per year according to a google search. In addition the college DOES NOT EMPLOY TEACHERS they employ so called tutors with 0 training in teaching, and the requirement is u have to have a master degree in the subject that they want to teach.... If u have a mental disability u can forget getting support from teachers correctly, the college will talk all about support support support but at the end of the day the teachers don't read the support plan and do not follow the support plan as this would mean they would have to do extra work, sadly it's my second year in this college due to personal circumstances, and the second year so far is worse then the first year... If u are thinking of attending this college/foundation year don't. Go to the LJMU International Foundation year, its cheaper and u as a student will get more support from teachers and the college its self. All of these problems I have mentioned and had meetings with the head of college but nothing has changed.

The college has not improved since my last review and actually has gotten worse, I was talking to another student who is not able to join University of Manchester because the foundation year through this Kaplan college is not recognised by them. So not only do you pay 20-25K in pounds but for this college that’s supposed to be part of the Russel Group but also you will have a foundation year certificate that is not accepted by other university in the UK except a select few. If you have mental health problems be ready to receive no support from the college, and rather an annoyed tutor/management saying “this person is having another one of their days” and not taking their struggle seriously. Exams: (Math) the course is designed to between A-Levels and University level of information. However during exams in A-levels students receive a 20 page formula sheet in University you get a full fledged formula sheet for your exam as well if its nots open book. This college however gives you one formula from all the topics that were covered during the semester. And calls that a formula sheet. This is also most likely why more then half of the engineering students failed their Mid Module Exam. Physics: exams are based on 1 mark questions only, meaning you only get one point for a complex question such as calculating the voltage of a combination of parallel circuited with series elements in them while there are only 2 variables given out of 5. for a one mark question this is not alright as you could easily make a mistake during the actual calculation and get the answer wrong but have your method that you use down to perfection. Aka rearranging formulas using the right ones etc etc . But the only thing the grading body would see is the answer and not the full calculation + method.

If you go to the Kaplan website of the University of Liverpool International College you will se statistics like “92% agree that they felt college staff cared about helping them succeed in their studies,” or “92% agreed it was easy for them to ask for advice and support from College Staff” It’s interesting to see these stats and not the stat of how many took the survey. So I believe they are not to be taken serious.

The principal is a typical successful education entrepreneur in the early stages of entrepreneurship, leading by example, standing in front of the door to greet students in the morning, and is commendable (respect) . The school is committed in many ways, sometime just like a babysitter, but the students are not cooperative, they lack of self-discipline（maybe Chinese strict teaching style will suit them） and a few teachers are not qualified

We’ve got more than 6 teachers in one subject, and some of the teachers have some racism towards the Arab students. Honestly, I didn’t improve my language skills at all. We’ve asked the head of the LIC to stable teacher but they still changing teachers which has effected our grades. One more thing is the ( Marking criteria) every teacher give his own grades it’s unfair that our class the student who get the highest mark was 68/100 and students in other classes the lowest grade was more than 70+.

I would not recommend anyone studying here, I lost my money and a year from my life for nothing.
