What can I say. The best specialist shop in the UK. Bought a pair of scarpa walking boots had a problem with them. Absolutely no quibble they were exchanged so easy,, the Nepal assistant I dealt with listened to my problem and exchanged straight away. First class service maybe dearer than Internet. But the service skill of boot fitting is first class, I have been to many outdoor stores Independent and chains. This store is far and away the best

Of the many, many outdoor shops in Ambleside, this one feels the most authentic (it’s 65th anniversary this year adds to that status). The staff are genuinely knowledgeable and happy to give advice. The gear sold is the real deal, not just gorpcore fashion.

I only needed a repair kit for my old Thermarest. I couldn't find one in store but they searched & found a couple of options for me. Proper old school outdoor rather than 'lifestyle' store. Mat now fixed.
