I had the most incredible experience with Thrive Bushcraft during a long weekend adventure. From canoeing and hiking to sitting around the fire, wild swimming, foraging, and even a memorable steam train journey, this adventure had it all!
Alex and Emily, our hosts, were nothing short of amazing. Their knowledge, enthusiasm, and dedication to making this experience unforgettable truly stood out. They went above and beyond to ensure we had an incredible time.
The food cooked over the fire was a highlight of the trip. The fact that it was foraged and fresh made every meal a delightful surprise. It was a true testament to the team's commitment to providing an authentic and unique experience.
Thrive Bushcraft encouraged me to push my boundaries and step out of my comfort zone. Using a rope swing and jumping into the river was just a moment that I'll cherish forever.
I recommend Thrive Bushcraft to anyone seeking an adventure that combines outdoor activities, learning, and personal growth. Thank you, for an incredible adventure!

I had a wonderful time with Alex at Thrive Bushcraft.
I learned so much about edible wild plants on a foraging walk and was lucky enough to sample some of Alex’s delicious foods.
I also loved practicing some handy skills such as fire by friction and learned a few handy knots.
This experience is a must for anyone with an interest in the great outdoors who would like to learn some new skills and gain a new perspective on spending time outside.
Thank you Alex. It was truly a memorable experience and I look forward to coming back in the future.

The best medicine for body soul and mind! Alex's woods are a place to take off the layers of our worldly lives. Sitting around the fire, swimming in rivers, making pottery, nettle cordage, foraging, looking after the fire... No electricity No running water No flushing toilet No phones
Awesome!
Alex is a great host, and chef. Savouring the tastes of foraged food was a delight for the tastebuds.
I can feel myself getting emotional writing this, and my heart yearning to be back in the woods.
Thank you Alex for an experience that I needed, and need in my life!

Myself and six friends recently did a foraging day with Alex. It was an incredible day. Alex is super friendly and knowledgeable and we all learnt a lot about IDing mushrooms and plants, and had a lot of fun too. It started with a coffee at the camp area, then we did a 4+ hr walk through different habitats, stopping regularly to learn about what we’d found. At lunch we had a swim in the river and Alex shared with us an amazing picnic of cheeses, veg and homemade chutneys and pickles from foraged items he’d preserved earlier in the season. Once back at the camp we cooked up a delicious meal and had a cocktail round the fire. We will definitely be returning next Spring for another one!

Took a group of friends for a weekend in the woods to celebrate my birthday. We were a group of 15 people. Alex was extremely thoughtful, organized, knowledgeable and an excellent host! We did a mixture of foraging, ceramics, trekking, and wild swimming - with a bonus of very fun forest games! The woodland area is absolutely beautiful and the food provided was a real culinary extravaganza. Highly recommended and will definitely be coming back with my friends next year!

Thank you so much to Alex who, at very short notice, booked my husband and me in for a couple of hours of mushroom ID tuition. We learnt so much - which mushrooms to forage and which most definitely not. We discussed mushrooms as indicators of types of soil and which mushrooms preferred what trees and so on. He also threw in many tips on other plants that are just as tasty. All while we strolled across the fields and into the woods and lanes of the beautiful and most definitely magical place that is Chagford. I also loved that Alex has such a light touch when it comes to foraging, taking just the right amount for a taste and ensuring that there will always be plenty to retain a healthy population of fungi/plants. I was so impressed with Alex's knowledge and his wonderfully enthusiastic way of passing on that knowledge. Would really recommend spending time in his company. Just want to also say to Alex that I experimented with the Turkey Tail mushrooms and made a stock from them which I used as a base to make a really tasty mushroom soup - that actually tasted really mushroomy as opposed to the slightly watered down mushroom taste I usually get. Turkey Tail stock definitely the missing super ingredient that made the difference. Thank you so much.

We've just finished a weekend here for my brother's stag do and Alex organised everything excellently. The itinerary was flexible, the food was incredible, the environment was wonderful and the activities were very enjoyable too.

Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a genuine bushcraft camping experience.

My partner and I (plus dogs) had an amazing time.
Alex is an incredibly welcoming, patient, and knowledgeable guy, plus the man can cook!
From our foraging walk, pottery, and firemaking masterclasses to his absolutely delicious meals, everything ran so effortlessly from start to finish with no pressure felt at all.
We have taken so much away that our dog walks will never be the same again.
