I’m a current student of the school as of March 2025. I have until June before I leave, and the school has somehow made themselves worse. I tried to be both honest and nice about my review, but I just can’t when the school continues to fail at being a good school.

I told myself the day before I wrote this; “Hey, this school isn’t that bad anymore.”

Now I wish I had never said that. They have somehow made themselves worse. The taxi system is a good example.

They can’t even open the gates in time… there is a sign on the gate that states the gates open at 8:25 in the morning. They open a lot later than that. And they’ve introduced this ridiculous system where you can no longer just turn into the school gates when they are open, instead you are waved off and can’t get into the school. When they do finally let you in, you have to go all the way to the roundabout, join the horrendous traffic, and go in that way. It’s not helping the traffic die down, it’s making it worse.

The students aren’t allowed to leave their taxis until all taxis are parked in school, but this doesn’t work. Some taxis arrive so much later because some have to go about an hour away to pick up certain school children. They claim it’s for ‘safety’, but even the other taxi system was safer. And that one was bad enough… this is also similar for the afternoon, students aren’t allowed into their taxis until all taxis are parked, I already explained why this doesn’t work out. We’re supposed to be out of the school by 3:00, but it takes ages to get out of the school. A lot of taxis won’t be able to get out by 3:00 with the horrendous traffic in the school car park and outside of the school. The school keeps getting complaints from the local residents of Calne because taxis are parking in the estate where all the houses are, blocking the road there. If the school keeps this up, they’ll get even more complaints. I know there’s other schools in the area that doesn’t help with the traffic because the taxi systems there are also bad, but this school isn’t helping with the traffic either since the school site is really close to the main road.

Even if they did open the gates earlier, they would most likely still refuse taxi entry until 8:25 (am), so it wouldn’t change anything. The school has been short on staff for years, and it’s just a big mess of a school overall. It’s one of the main reasons they refuse to revert back to the taxi system they had in 2020. But they can’t keep this current taxi system, it’s even worse than the other one. School starts at 8:30, and that’s when they want everyone to be in class. How can they when this mess of a taxi system prevents most students from getting into the school at that time? Because of this system, I heard of a lot of students missing tutor time, which ends at 8:45. Students cannot make it to school and get into class by 8:30 with this system in place. One of my friends have been in this school for 8+ years, and according to them, the taxi system and headteacher back then was so much better than now, which honestly? I wish we still had a good headteacher. Now we have a headteacher that barely does anything for the school. They need a headteacher that had the same mindset as Mr. Hamp. That headteacher would fix this massive mess of a school. I get that they have had a staff shortage for years which is why they refuse to go back to the 2020 taxi system when the gates were open at 8 in the morning and 2 in the afternoon, but they can’t keep this system either. Something needs to be done.

Don't send your child here. I spent 5 years here and it has been one I wish I could forget. The range of qualifications you can get at this school is terrible as they focus on life and living OCR and entry levels more then in my case as GCSE class the GCSE's themselves. The school focuses to much on useless qualifications you don't want nore will ever use or need rather then what is need. I only had 1 year to cover all of triple biology, English literature and language and still not a good amount of time for maths GCSE which we should have had between 2-4 years.

Not only this but every day you will hear homophobic, racist, sexist and ableist comments shouted and screamed by the students and teachers do nothing to stop or prevent it. The school also does nothing to prevent lies and rumors since I was also assault and lost the majority of people closest to me because someone who was close to me lied about me. I'm not sure what about but it must have been very bad and luckily everyone left the person who started the lie and sadly the school continued to do nothing about it.

And lastly if you bring your child here they won't be able to get GCSE'S and will only get qualifications they will not want or use.

Only bring you child here if they can take a ton of punches a day.

Went here 16 years ago and some of the teachers were amazing, Mrs white mr kale to name a few. Ah the good old days when the teachers could batter or strangle you and we deserved it. Bring it back I say, keep the kids in line.
