Perfect venue in the heart of the forest, amazing staff, lovely cuisine and amazing surroundings! we visited for lunch and to explore the forest, lake and lovely arboretum. Speech house is one of the only places in the forest that offers an off road mobility scooter to hire so you can explore with family members even if you have difficulty walking! ||The hotel is clean, tidy, cosy and well presented would definitely recommend visiting. The hotel is also dog friendly so is great for a country walk and lunch.

Really picky staff ,got arsey cos I went to the main bar rather than in wedding reception.

I never mentioned the actual ceremony room did I.
Even got told I couldn't have Becks as they were out of Becks glasses 🤦
They forgot to bring bread and chips out with the so called buffet with the chips arriving with the cut up wedding cake🤣
Booked a family room only to find there was a charge for a kids bed🤷which we had removed from bill
Guests told to wait for top ups of wine only to be poured a quarter of a glass
When asking the server about milk allergens we were told "it's frozen I doubt there's milk in it "

Very disappointing place apart from the size of the room(which is actually cheaper when booked outside the wedding)
Definitely better hotels out there with less stars

Stayed for 2 nights. Rooms were very clean and cozy. The staff there were incredibly friendly and accommodating. Food was wonderful aswell and there were lots of options. Location was good, there were many trails within walking distance that took you into forest of dean. Overall, very pretty place to stay. Highly recommend.

Beautiful hotel in amazing surroundings. Staff very friendly and helpful. Really enjoyed our stay. Food was very good and an excellent breakfast. Loads of historic stories about the place. All very interesting. Also a 👻 ghost!

This hotel encapsulates all that I love about the Forest. It's welcoming to all, including dogs and the hospitality is warm & friendly. The staff are an absolute credit to the owners, especially Megan who's customer service is exemplary and even the fuss she made of our dog "Bronte" was very well received. We'll be back very soon, after a good dog walk that is. 😃👍

My husband and I, plus a friend, were booked in for the Christmas package at The Speech House, arriving on 24th and booking out on 27th. This was the best Christmas ever!! The Speech House is a family run hotel and on arrival you felt the warmth generated by all the staff, who couldn't do enough to make sure your stay was one you would remember. The food was absolutely amazing. Events were arranged during your stay, which you could attend, but were not obliged to. Carols on Christmas Eve accompanied by a local brass band was a perfect start to Christmas. A coach was arranged for those who wished to go to midnight mass, which proved to be particularly popular. Guided walks through the Forest were arranged for Christmas morning and Boxing Day and a "fun" quiz on Christmas night. To round off the proceedings there was Ceilidhs dancing on Boxing night. Overall a perfect stay, which I would have no hesitation recommending to anyone.

Excellent hotel. Warm welcome at reception. The room No 6 was spotless, especially the bathroom. Lovely separate lounge area in room.|We ate in both restaurants and the food was delicious and very well presented and cooked. All the staff were friendly and professional. Check out was easy on day of departure. Hotel in beautiful area of the country . Will definitely recommend hotel to others.
