I would rate it a 0 star if I could, awful college, rude and unprofessional staff members. I have been at this college for 2 years and what a waste of time it has been, my second year has been a nightmare, the tutors have made me dread the days where I have to turn up, they are bully’s and do not deserve the role of a so called “tutor”.

If you want your child to attend a college where the TUTORS bully their pupils, this would be the perfect college to choose. The tutors that my daughter have on her dog grooming course at Sandwell, have made her life hell for far too long now…disgusting!!! They should try and understand that they have an influence on people’s lives and futures, and tutors that don’t understand this and don’t respect their pupils, are in the wrong career. Think twice before registering to attend Sandwell.

Had the opportunity to do some course , years ago. I love the settings and the architecture. Even dreamed about attending, before the building was completed. Nice work of art , lovely architecture.

Would give zero stars if i could.

I began the T-level health and social care course back in 2023 September with a dream to be a paramedic. The course seemed fine for the first year until we sat our final exams and it turns out we all failed. Going into second year, already half of the class had chosen not to go back, we had a completely different set of teachers who told us we were taught everything wrong in the first year.

From that point all the lessons we had were just repeats of the criteria from last year despite the fact they told us it was wrong. The teachers were completely incompetent and had no idea what they were doing, spreading misinformation and setting useless work tasks, like constant presentations that taught us nothing. Additionally, one of the teachers was highly unprofessional, constantly making inappropriate remarks towards and about people. Another teacher, also unprofessionally called out students, often sharing personal information in front of the whole class with no regard for privacy.

Due to the failing of the first year exams, we had to resit them in November but were offered no help towards achieving this. Instead we were made to complete presentations every week because clearly the teachers thought that this was more important than our actual exams.

One of the other mistakes that was made is in regards to work placement which was compulsory for my course. During the first year they allocated us work placement to which i travelled every week, even during the holiday, only for them to try and say that none of my hours counted. Keeping in mind they wanted us to complete 315 hours of work placement which, in my opinion is a ridiculous expectation.

I failed my GCSE maths so I had to resit it, was given no lessons from september to november and even when i did have lessons (in a whole other building because Sandwell couldn't offer me any) the teacher didn't feel like doing any teaching. On top of this, I was told after the resits that everybody had done them and I was the only person who missed them simply because nobody bothered to tell me.

At one point during the year, I seriously considered switching courses to Animal Care Level 3. I briefly spoke to a receptionist who was very rude and judgemental (acted like I was wasting her time) and she didn't look into it properly and misinformed me that I could only do level 1.Unsatisfied with this, I went and spoke to the head of animal care directly. She was also very unhelpful and rude, and also didn't look into things properly and told me I couldn't do the course because I didn't have GCSE maths. After this, a teacher actually looked into it and found that I could do level 3 because I was resitting at GCSE level and not functional skills. By the time I had discovered all of this and gotten a referral sheet so I could switch courses, the head of animal care told me I couldn't join the course because of some imaginary deadline I had missed by the skin of my teeth. Keeping in mind, she was the one who set the deadline so she could have very easily informed me of this. Why give me hope of switching onto the course if you knew I couldn't anyway?

Overall, this college is absolutely awful and has wasted two years of my time. Ultimately I have given up on being a paramedic and I've dropped out. Now I am looking into an online Animal care course. Only come here if you want your dreams crushed and to be constantly messed about by teachers who either don't have a clue what they're doing or couldn't care less about you.

Sandwell college is a diverse college which supports the students in all ways. Especially the Public Services the lecturers Rytis, Gemma and Dan are amazing as they are always your support system whenever you need them, they make sure you are supported with UCAS and university applications whilst also applying for apprenticeships.

We attended here last night to watch the wonderboy performance.... well what can I say ... all the kids did a fantastic job and have put hours worth of practice in and it paid off last night, however I'm DISGUSTED with the staff how they have treated and continue to treat these kids no one opened the performance last night it was up to the kids just to start with no introduction and NOT 1 OF THE TEACHERS could be bothered to close the show we as parents/guardians/friends and family members where just left sitting there when the show finished not knowing whether it was the end or not... no tutor came out to thank the kids or anyone for turning up.
ABSOLUTE DISGRACE and the way the pupils are spoken to by their tutors is disgusting I've actually heard this first hand and I just wish I had known what tutors was who last night as I would have had a few choice words for them .... YOU ARE SUPOSED TO BE TEACHING OUR KIDS NOT BULLYING THEM I'm so angry.

I was a student at this college but then i got randomly got kicked out for no reason My student ID was 692170. Im here to warn you about this college and i recommend not to do apprenticeship here because you'll waste 1 year of you're life doing nothing and apprenticeship team staff are no help they useless they treat you like nuisance and after 5 months of not finding a place for you they'll kick you out that what happened to me and dont trust this teacher named Sally Wikes she'll keep saying that you are not ready but i been ready all the time but then she'll make up some other excuse like there are no vacancies and plus i searched over 15 vacancies and had no luck then on 1st January 2025 they kicked me out for no reason and now im struggling to find a job like McDonalds to provide for my family and yes my family is poor i was hoping to do apprenticeship in this college to get some money and some work experience and now i wasted a year of studying because of that teacher Sally Wikes i really hope this college gets better apprenticeship teacher because if these apprenticeship are still here all the student s future will go down the drain like mine did and if you're looking to apply here dont do apprenticeship and if Sally Wikes see this thank you for ruining my life and future.
