I have had quite a few courses with Karl over the years, including an intensive one last year. I can safely say that Karl is THE best teacher of flint knapping in the country. He knows his subject perfectly well, is a passionate archaeologist and also a wonderfully flint knapper. Always a pleasure to just watch him make magic out of a nodule of flint. And, to say that he managed to teach someone like me, with rather poor hand coordination, make hand axes I am very proud of, is a proof of his excellent tuition. I have more courses lined up with him this year, and I can't wait to bash stone again under his guidance!

After two days of 1 to 1 flint knapping tuition with Karl I can assuredly say he is the best teacher of this subject in the UK. His knowledge of the subject matter, both practically and historically, is unsurpassed, and despite that he is not one of those egoic guys who shoves it down your throat.

He is a patient and accommodating teacher, whom I would recommend to anyone of any age or ability who wanted to know more about stone tools, knapping or primitive technology in general.

Thank you so much Karl for helping me get out of my rut with stone tools and reinvigorating the desire deepen my knowledge on the subject.

For future students he also makes a great cuppa and has a real prehistoric cave of wonders at the bottom of his garden!
