Poor service at the tills

They have a tv above a payment point with a very clear sign displayed on it. ‘Paid online, collect here’. There is a very clear inference that online orders which have already been paid for should be collected at this till. Today I spent ten minutes waiting at said point only to be told to join the back of a longer queue. When I asked why, the reply came that everything is ‘paid online’. Another staff member I later complained to acknowledged this signage was confusing. However there was no apology for my wasted time. When I was served I had the offer of insurance read out to me in full even though I explicitly said I do not want insurance before his monologue began. Can’t help but conclude they just enjoy wasting your time at this store.

Having now read the other Google reviews for this store it seems other people have experienced the same issues with where to queue.

Reasonably good stock levels but terribly staffed. There is also a queue that's meant to be for people who have ordered online and are collecting, but instead (presumably due to staffing) you're made to queue with people ordering in person and doing returns/refunds. Expect to spend much more time than you should have to, if using this shop.

Went into store today and read the screens above each till. I queued at the till stating online shopping collection as advised in past to do. I thought the person at the till was at the back as no one there. I waited as you would do. I noticed the lady serving on the next till was free but blanked me. I gained her attention where she basically told me off for queuing at the till. Why have screens telling you where to queue and as she very rudely told me have not been used for years! There are ways to speak to people and this was not the way. Disgusting attitude.

Awful experience,

I collected 3 Really Useful boxes that strongly indicate that they’re genuine through the use of capitalisation of the R and U but in fact they’re just useful boxes and NOT of the same quality as the genuine Really Useful Boxes.

I also purchased an electric tin opener and care package but didn’t receive evidence of the care package/receipt. The manager was extremely unhelpful and a disgrace to the Argos brand. He insisted taking my phone off me and going through all my e-mails, a complete intrusion into my privacy. All I wanted was a receipt for something I could prove I had purchased online just before collecting in store. Frustrated I asked for a full refund but have to wait a ridiculous period of time whilst facing confrontational behaviour. The manager by the end says the care e-mails take 48 hours, but he never communicated this to me previously and should have known. Insurance is a regulated industry and Argos are the broker in this situation. The staff should be better trained.

I used to regularly shop here, but I can understand why all their stores are closing. I’ll be shopping at Amazon going forward.

Had an issue which became complex, dealt with the Manager Karl, he was a true professional and soon sorted out all of the problems for me. He is a true credit to Argos and should be praised for being helpful and excellent at customer service. Many thanks Karl.

Bought a microwave from this store. Returned it within a couple of hours as smoking and burning rubber smell which stunk the house out clearly dangerous, was told it can’t be returned as it’s been used, she told us we must of burnt our food and that was the smell. absolutely shocked the lack of customer service skills was a joke. 11/3/24 evening shift, the so called manager was an insult to Argos. Me and my partner came away in shock to how bad we wer dealt with. We took the microwave to longwater and was dealt with how we would be expected to be. 30 day guaranteed money back she clearly doesn’t get what that means. We will never ever use Argos again and it’s all thanks to the so called manager who clearly needs to go and learn Argos’s small print and go on a customer skills course. Never again argos and we will make sure friends and family never use Argos. Absolute joke!!!
