Absolutely useless. Did art for 3 years and I learned nothing and had no support at all for 3 years and then I leave college this year to find my grade was a pass, i had higher hopes but I was then told it's because I was put on referral despite knowing this isn't true and I was told it wasn't true by the teacher themselves so they've essentially ruined my grades and then lied to me and I did complain only to be ignored.

Teachers were nice enough but didn’t actually teach, they would leave halfway through lessons and not come back, forget to do the register resulting in poor attendance marks on the students and acted like it was an inconvenience whenever a student asked them help, nearly every student complained openly about the confusing language on the worksheets we were given and lack of help we were receiving and nothing was done about it. They would only be engaging in teaching us when an invigilator was there watching the class. I’ve also seen friends of mine throughout the years complain about not having timetables at the beginning of their courses and being missed off the register, etc- just in general a very unorganised college.

Fantastic place. The staff are so welcoming. The tutors are both professional, friendly, funny, kind and make you feel at ease no matter what level of learning you are at or are interested in. They have a massive variety of courses to study and are very helpful with course guidance and indeed the mapping of the college. I would highly recommend this college.
My son has begun this year doing a very practical course, he had already experienced college in another county and he was not very happy there. It wasn't for him so he left. The caring staff at petroc in barnstaple were so good to him and guided him to where he is at the moment , starting a course, in a new place with new people and having some disabilities himself, it has been a great success. He wakes up in the morning and is so happy to go , that he is almost a changed person. I realise it is early days , however, I do think this is the best place for him to learn and grow.

Wouldn’t of been nice to received a phone call 6 weeks plus before, last day of college about any issue/work not being finish . It’s too late when they come home. And you being told that hes failed and to expect a call because of half a missing assignment.
Please NOTE THIS PETROC FINDING A PHONE NUMBER ON THE LAST DAY OF COLLEGE IS TO LATE SHOULD OF BEEN DONE EARLIER. SADLY the above in relation to engineering. But also didn’t get the support from tutors in A levels a couple of years ago.
THankfully they are both are hard working boys and already have good jobs.

I contacted Petroc to assist me with an issue I had with Vision2Learn. The issue was that V2L unfairly removed me from a course I was doing with them. V2L have done everything to avoid me. So, because I could not reach out to the delivering institute (Capita) who are impossible to contact, I opted to go for Petroc because I know they also run V2L courses. They claim they did contact V2L on my behalf, because V2L have been so cold with me. And apparently it's logged as a high level complaint. But I've had nothing from V2L. Nothing at all. And that means nothing. So, is that right? Justified? Is it ok to do that? Is it moral? Ethical? I'm not so sure now but it seems to be a trend and it seems Petroc are now trying to wash their hands of me. But, I won't let go. So because of not following professional standards I'm awarding them a poor review. I'd have liked to make it better, but it has to be earned I feel. Petroc don't feel I'm being fair but they have professional standards the same as V2L, and so far their professional standards are just as bad. Just thought I'd share this.
