I have only just joined this school( I'm in y7) and from what I have seen it is a good sch and I have had no issues what so ever. The only thing is reflection, they send kids to reflection for the most stupid reason ever. However we did get a new principal last year and he changed alot, if we had a storm and it was flooding the old principal allowed students to go home early but now we are not allowed to since it is 'taking away our learning time'. So overall I think it's an okay school it just needs some improvement.

Nova Hreod Academy is a school with some strong points but also areas that need improvement. The teaching staff are generally supportive and dedicated to helping students succeed.

One major issue is communication. Important information is often not shared promptly, leading to confusion among parents and students. For instance, no one knows who the new headteacher is, and there has been no introduction or updates on the school’s website and social media.

The school seems to prioritize its image over the students' education and mental health. The “I need help” button and the anti-bullying system, for example, are not as effective as they should be. I know of instances where bullying was reported, but the school only acted when a staff member got involved. In some cases, nothing was done to stop the bullying at all.

Another concern is the lack of teachers, especially in the science department. Many teachers have left throughout the year, with some when asked why had dissatisfaction with the school’s policies and how it’s run. This has led to a lot of cover work, with entire sets having substitute teachers for extended periods. The cover work often doesn’t align with what the students need to learn, which is frustrating , though I do recognize that there is a teacher shortage right now.

Overall, Nova Hreod Academy has potential, but significant improvements in communication, policies, and staffing need to be made.

If you care about your children, DO NOT SEND THEM HERE. I have been in nova hreod for my entire secondary school experience (currently at the end of year 10) and my attendance is lower than 10%. The teachers and special needs teachers do not respect the pupils. I am severely autistic and they either refuse to help with my sensory issues or dismiss them to the point i have to leave again. I have watched teachers drag students around by their arms so violently it left bruises. I was refused access to their special needs unit during multiple panic attacks. Teachers who care about the students and their needs are either fired or given such little resources that they can not function with their students. The special needs unit has over 90 kids daily and 3 computers between them. They are SEVERELY underfunded and can not provide real support to the disabled children because they use the special needs unit for teacher meetings. The last time i went in was september, I left shortly after being yelled at by the new principal (Miss Fox) for missing 2 days in a row. They do not care about the children in their school, just about having high attendance numbers. It gets more obvious the longer the school is open.

Shockingly bad, though there are some strong points in the fact that Monday and Friday are shorter days than the rest the majority of teachers I have encountered honestly seem to thrive on putting children down, shouting, yelling, cutting children off, unreasonable detentions and just overall bad attitude. If you want your offspring to become a functioning member of society and a person of imagination and creation I couldn't *not* recommend this school enough.

AVOID. Children are treated so badly, it's like a prison. They can't breathe.
