I have loved this place since I was small. Was hoping to see more , but it's still limited due to ongoing works. Was great to be back, but it's a shame some horrendously out of control screaming children, who weren't listening to their teachers, were ruining it for the rest of us. I'll be back though and hope for a quieter visit

We were a bit disappointed that the castle was closed for renovations as I am not sure when I will be able to get back (from the US). We did stop and head to the museum though. They got everything and anything you can imagine showcasing Norwich's history. It includes artwork [old and new], Roman and other periods, natural history, tea kettles, mummies and so much more. Now expect to be here for a couple hours as there is a tonne to see.

There are 2 floors to see, but it is mostly on the first floor. They have a centre area for you to hang out in and sit if you need a minute's rest. The store has a lot of stuff to meet anyone's tastes. I got some souvenirs but almost also got a stuffed dragon 🐲

Only other issue was some loud school kids that were there during our walkthrough.

The castle is closed for renovation as of March 2025, but don't let that deter you. The museum has an amazing collection of historical pieces beautifully arranged. There were tea pots dating back hundreds of years!

The time, effort, and quality put into the dioramas is evident.

Don't forget to stop by the cafe and sign up for the dungeon tour.

It was an afternoon we'll spent!

Great selection of art in the museum. Newly opened cafe. Unfortunately the castle keep is closed for refurbishment.

An interesting place to see as a foreigner. When you visit on a Friday, you have to compete for space with wedding couples getting married and their guests! Not a nuisance at all, just interesting. There are also lots of school kids exploring the museum. The Keep is still under restoration. What is available may look like a bit of a mish-mash, with a wonderful collection of china, the Boudica & Romans Gallery, the Wider World Gallery, the Natural History Galleries, and the Egyptian collections. There’s also the Royal Norfolk Regimental collection, so all in all, everyone should find something to their liking. The exhibits are well described, with little anecdotes every now and then to keep the visitors’ attention. A lovely Victorian toilet is hidden at the far end (still in use). A nice cafe serves cakes and small lunches to replenish your energy.

I’m a teacher trainer and I usually bring a group of foreign teachers who explore the museum with the aim of designing activities for their learners. I typically ask if a museum attendant could give us a very short talk on the museum activities. This is also to give the teachers an opportunity to listen to another variety of spoken English. However, this seems to be asking for too much, as there is never a person available to spare five minutes of their time. Pity!

Very pleasant visit to the castle. Parts under construction but still lots to view. Coffee very nice in the cafe. Vegan food was an orange/apple/ chocolate bar. Watched a wedding party move through the museum. The exhibits are fabulous. £6.50 admission. Must view for visitors.

The castle was closed for renovation and affects the museum as well. It was a bit of disappointment to find out that only part of the museum was open. The collection presented in this side museum was nice, but under curated. The museum emphasizes on natural history, which is mostly taxidermic collection, victorian period artefacts, and war-time information on involvement of the British in since the Boer War up to the Second World War. However there was a good collection on porcelain and glass ware from the XIX century that I enjoyed.
