This university is the worst for learning practical and industry-relevant skills. Most professors have no real-world experience in the marketing industry, and the modules are outdated. There are no meaningful collaborations with companies to help students in their job search.

From the very beginning of my master’s degree in digital marketing, I felt like I was in primary school rather than an adult learning environment. It’s incredibly discouraging and frustrating to witness how unqualified the lecturers are and how superficially classes are delivered.

The wellbeing services both at this uni and the student union are terrible. I don't know where else to go with this other than Google reviews but at this uni it seems like they have so many great services but in reality it just boils down to a bored and annoyed person sitting there telling you to "just call Samaritans."
The services seem to exist to get you help but it feels like all an Illusion, they constantly pass you around to other people and don't want to do anything themselves despite that being their paid job.
Overall, you are made to feel like an annoyance just for going to things that are offered seemingly to help. This goes for so many other things at this uni too, it just feels like a big lie.

Admissions office is appalling, can't even enroll on your degree after being given unconditional offer, four weeks to enroll on your degree. You can't even get through and talk to them.you get palmed of with speaking to ask 4 help staff who are just as useless as admissions office.

There's far better universities in the UK than this one. And don't believe in the rubbish university league tables either because I've found the university which are not given good ratings in university league tables are better than the likes of Northumbria university and the pile of rubbish red brick universities which simply rip you off with bad teaching and even worse tutors

Title: Disappointed by Lack of Flexibility and Support for Students

As a student, I had Higher expectations from a university that prides itself on its standards. Unfortunately, my recent experience has left me feeling unsupported and disappointed.

Despite facing genuine financial hardship, I reached out to request a short extension for paying my tuition fees—a reasonable request to allow me time to gather the necessary funds. However, my request was denied without consideration of my circumstances. This rigid approach does not reflect a commitment to student well-being, especially when life challenges arise unexpectedly.

Universities should recognize that students are not just numbers or fee payers but individuals with diverse challenges. Offering short extensions in exceptional cases would demonstrate understanding and compassion, qualities I believe every academic institution should uphold.

I hope the university will reflect on the feedback from students and reconsider its policies to better align with its stated commitment to student support and well-being.

Pain to get too but nice uni. Ive been a couple of times for conventions or study's but not a student. Its well laid out when you get there, seems clean and tidy. But would be better if I could of driven and parked too.

I transferred to Northumbria university from another uni, and I very much regret it.

I am doing English lit and creative writing and have felt very disappointed and let down. After two years here, I don't want to attend anymore. I feel very discouraged.

The university has a big problem with seemingly taking issues seriously at first then dismissing them once you talk about them properly.
For a university that pushes for inclusivity, it really feels like nothing but lies.
There are many issues, too many to write here. But I feel disheartened. As I've wasted time and money.

I had problems from the start, when I applied through clearing they were not clear to me, despite calling several times. They did not tell me that I needed to apply as an international student rather than through UCAS (which makes no sense, as I am not international.)
The information was always unclear, conflicting and they wouldn't answer my questions properly.
The administration is terrible and incredibly disorganised.

I was going to wait to write this after I left, but I'm still here, hating it and incredibly frustrated. So I'll say this now as professionally as I can: I'm extremely sick and tired of having people seemingly be receptive and caring at first, only to dismiss me down the line.

I also experienced targeted discrimination and harassment. Bullying, ableism and queerphobia via people in my class. When I reported this, it was not taken seriously by the uni at all and dismissed, being told to just ignore it.

I also find it interesting to note that lecturer who dismissed me and told me to move on is very vocal on social media about discrimination issues that affect them, but when a student is affected by their own discrimination, they aren't bothered.

The management of the university is dreadful. I was confirmed to have received a PEC for my work only to have almost failed because apparently I wasn't? Nothing is clear here at all.

Also the attendance is awful, at points only 4 people would turn up (myself included) and lectures were often called off due to low attendance. There has been a very depressing and unencouraging atmosphere. The lectures feel very jaded and unhappy.

The socities are also terrible. The neurodivergent society in particular was not a welcoming or kind space for those who were neurodivergent. There was nowhere to go, no support and I felt completely alone, and still do.
Another thing to note is that there are events which take place, such as graduation celebrations and others that are hugely disruptive to those of us trying to work. There is loud music playing, constant bag checks and huge crowds blocking entrances and spaces which makes coming in to lecturers impossible, especially as a disabled person. Once again as with everything else, the uni took zero consideration or attention to my concerns.

Overall, I feel very unsatisfied with this uni. It's been incredibly depressing. Making me feel like a number or a statistic, giving money to a business rather than a place that cares about it's students learning and wellbeing.

Studied a masters course and the whole thing was disorganised, staff were disinterested and at times very rude to students who just want to learn. The other reviews about how money is the most important thing to them is spot on.

I'm here for a master's degree. So far, my experience with the university has been positive, but my experience with the tutors has been negative. Some tutors are extremely rude to international students and teach pointless. However, because the campus is beautiful and large, you will have to walk a long distance to get to your next class. The library and parking facilities are excellent. Almost every 50 meters, there is a bike parking spot.

I would especially discourage international students from enrolling in business and marketing courses here. I'm facing issues with my programme leader 'Craig Bradshaw' because he appears to dislike Asian students and intentionally gives them lower grades or fails them in assessments. By the way, I'm studying digital marketing.

The grading system is atrocious; they teach you ABC and expect you to do XYZ. However, some tutors, such as Andrew Robson and Kirk Dodds, really motivate you and teach well, as well as listen and resolve the queries of international students. I'd say the university is good, but it's ruined by some of the professors. Please don't be so harsh towards international students.
