I studied for access to HE diploma in psychology science over three years ago. It was a big challenge for me because I returned to education after a few years break, what is more, it was my first experience with education in the UK. I was sooo fortunate because I got into a class where Lorna Spence was the teacher. Lorna is the best teacher I have ever had the chance to meet. She taught us in a great way, making me understand every subject quickly and clearly, but most importantly, she made me believe that I can achieve perfect grades and get into my dream psychology studies. Lorna guided me through the whole education process step by step, and advised me very well in choosing a university. Today, I finished in psychology with clinical psychology, and I'm starting my master's degree in the same field. Lorna, if you are reading this comment, I want to tell you that I am grateful for everything, and I was so lucky to be your student. Newham College must be so proud to have Lorna Spence on board because she is not only an outstanding teacher, but also a great supporter for students.

A big thanks to Mauricio, the greatest lecturer I have ever had. His knowledge and commitment to teaching are simply unmatched. His integrity, work ethic, and expertise are extraordinary. As an expert in adult education, his lessons provide invaluable insights for life. Keeping twenty students engaged for an entire year is impressive and has earned all my respect. It is a pity that such a successful course like Access to Business Information Systems is not running next year. I am sure it would have benefited many students. Regardless thanks for helping me secure my Queen Mary University offer

Mauricio and Abid are two of the most passionate, knowledgeable and respectful teachers I have ever had. Their teaching is highly engaging, and they are always honest and open with their students. Thanks to their support, I achieved better grades than I had hoped for in the Access to HE course in Computer Science and Maths. I am now looking forward to starting a BSc in Mathematics at one of the most prestigious universities, King’s College London.

The Access course was very enjoyable but also intense. My advice for future students is to be prepared to work hard, participate in group study outside of lessons, start assignments as soon as they are set, and attend all lessons!

Honestly, I was excited to join Newham College. But enrollment into the college was an absolute nightmare. I have never been to such a disorganised college before. Prior to me applying for a course at this college, I have attended 3 other FE colleges in London and the enrollment process took less than 30 minutes. I have arrived at the college at 12 noon and I waited outside the reception area for 1 hour and 30 minutes, as soon as I arrived at the reception area, the staff didn’t know what they were doing as they did not send me any enrollment email prior to me entering the college. After I spoke with a member of staff they sent me to speak with the Head of School for the course I was applying for. We had a 10 minute conversation about the course and I was happy with that. Then they sent me to the enrollment waiting area where the enrollment staff just kept moving people around and I waited in that enrollment room for over 2 hours to the point where I didn’t want to enroll anymore. I made a complaint to numerous enrollment staff, and they treated my complaint as if it was a great big joke to them. Then I went into the other enrollment room and I could see there was still another 150 people waiting to enroll. After waiting for 6 hours to enroll I decided to leave the college as if I had stayed, I would have to stay until 9 or 10 pm until I was able to enroll. I have been to colleges a lot bigger than Newham college where they have more students than them it should not take a ridiculously amount of time just for a Student to get enrolled.

This review was conversated with my parents in regards of this college. I am therefore writing a report for the issues here in Newham College Stratford. In my opinion, for the past 3-4 months of being here, the college in terms of socialisation is not very good. I had to intervene my parents with the condition of the college, placed in a dangerous area, students are causing mayhem in classes in which they are aware of it. With the quality of learning here, it isn’t always good as there are some lack of personality in students, as always causing chaos. Teachers don’t usually provide much education, as I’m here on a temporary move and likewise, concerned as they are on their phones like nearly most of the time. Students in this college smoke and my parents are concerned whether I am surrounded with people who show bad influence in their lives. Unfortunately, people are rude and also racist in this college although the zero tolerance of it here is seriously shown. I had to deal with the staff with the students behaviour as I am victimised with abuse from recording my face without consent and people posting it on snapchat. The college shows unserious people who act bad thinking they are boastful and act like street men. The unprofessionalism in this college has risen over the last months, and my parents are likely to complain issues about the college being in a state of danger. Safety in this college isn’t really good as stratford is known for gangs. I came here to learn and pass my GCSE Maths, while the students here are really acting like they think they’re hard and tough to deal with. While I didn’t receive equality and justice in this college, the students caused my time here in a mess and therefore will not recommend anybody to join here if they want a serious education. A really worrying performance, as Ofsted need to specialise an investigation at this place.

I studied Computer Science and Mathematics as an Access course from 2022 to 2023 and I am truly fortunate to have been a student of Mauricio, who is an exceptional lecturer. Not only is he remarkably knowledgeable and respectful towards his students, but his invaluable guidance on life adds an extraordinary dimension to his teaching. His insights extend beyond academics, offering us priceless lessons that will undoubtedly shape our paths long after graduation. Thanks to his help, I am now on my way to my first choice university, King's College London to study Computer Science.
