I recently visited Winkworth Arboretum with my dog to explore the Shaun the Sheep trail. It was a fantastic experience! The trail features twelve beautifully decorated Shaun the Sheep sculptures, each inspired by the festive season and the English landscape. My dog absolutely loved seeing the sheep, especially the winter solstice-themed one.

The arboretum itself is stunning, with its picturesque woodland, lake, and well-maintained paths. It was a lovely way to spend a day outdoors, enjoying nature and the creative artwork. I highly recommend this trail for a fun and engaging winter adventure.

Fabulous autumnal colours! Beautiful majestic trees. A gorgeous place. The whole experience was very relaxing, even the dogs were calmed by the serenity and beauty ( seriously!).
The staff were very friendly and chatty and helpful, probably influenced by the calm zen.
There's a cafe serving hot pasties, soup, cakes and usual hot and cold drinks. Seating is outside but plenty of space and benches.
There's overflow parking for when it gets busy.
Free entry as National Trust member.
Makes you appreciate the importance of the National Trust for looking after special places like this for the rest of us to enjoy.

His was our first visit to the arboretum, there was lovely self guided walks varying in length. It's a stunning place any season of the year but, we were treated to the spectacular colours of autumn 🍂. There is a new visitors centre under construction so we hope to visit again in the future.
There was a small cafe with outdoor seating and accessible toilets facilities. Great place to take children to let off steam and learn about the outdoors

Really lovely area. Buggy friendly walks and the staff were really friendly. Grounds are well kept and really beautiful. Wooden play area more suitable for older children (5+) but had a great afternoon with my 2 year old mid week.

Have visited a few times. Great in Spring and Autumn for colours. Good for a walk anytime. Dog friendly. This visit was for the festive Shaun the Sheep trail (Wild in Art). Lovely Christmas pudding scone too!

It's very large and beautiful, unfortunately when I went it was raining continuously, sow some bits were muddy, which is to be expected. The new tarmac parts are very good, as good as a road, it's just they don't yet go all the way to the entrance so you get your feet muddy again before you get back to the car! Some of the paths were impassible due to mud.
The top path that goes the longest route around the lake you especially need good walking boots and I wouldn't recommend it if it's been raining in the last 24 hours.

Plenty of parking and very popular. Wide expanse of land and follow paths to see the outdoor colours. Worth a visit in all seasons especially autumn and spring. A boathouse on a lake is worth a walk to. Cafe serves hot drinks and food near the ticket office only. Some brought a picnic and found open grass to eat so many options. If NT member access free 😀 ♿.

A lovely place for a beautiful walk. Not only is the picturesque arboretum stunning, but the views are amazing. Great place for a family walk and really great that dogs are allowed as long as they stay on leads. Worth a visit, but car park does fill up quickly.
