The go to bodybuilding gym located in Croydon Purley just behind Porcelanosa. The previous Kings lacked parking facilities however this one supplies plenty of free parking. This gym has everything you would expect from the Kings brand. Wide range of equipment that you will not see anywhere else. Ranging from old school to state of the art. Huge range of dumbbells. Plenty of space within the gym and great atmosphere. Staff are friendly, kind and welcoming. This gym has everything a die hard bodybuilder requires. From nutrition through to posing room areas. Whether full membership or just visiting on a day. Definately worth a visit. 💪🏼💪🏼

Positives: Equipment selection/member's.
Hygiene: non existent. 2 spray bottles, 2 dirty reusing rags for everyone to share and spread sweat and germs around.
Machine's: dangerous, alot of time machines have clips braking, screw loose dumbbells falling apart, sharp cables etc.
Temperature: big ac units installed, never ever on, and if on its very late when the gym is busier for a short period of time when the heat in there is too much for most. 1 fan on for such a huge green house isn't efficient, there's no fresh air you can feel the lack of it.
Car park: a huge section of the car park has a wall that's clapsiding. So packed cars are always bumping into eachother. ( Park at your own risk)
Staff: not friendly or welcoming ( unless they are friends) , if you mention an issue they fob you off even at times laugh about it.
Price: it's at it's highest it's been but the service itself it's at it's lowest.

the only downside is opening hours.
Used to open 5am, now it’s 5:30?! Why?
10pm closing? What about those ones who finish work late and want to gym later?
8-6 on the weekends? Seriously?
Not asking for gym to be 24/7 but it seems this hours are for convenience of the staff not members. Staff can be rude sometimes and not helpful.

I have been training at this gym for 5 years and I have absolutely loved it. However a couple of days ago, due to a faulty clip on a cable machine I sustained a head injury. This was no fault of my own, it was due to a clip not closing properly allowing a metal attachment to fall on my head whilst bending over. This cut my head open with lots of blood leakage. I had to go to hospital to get my head stitched back and and I was monitored for a concussion. The staff member on site at the time admitted her first aid training had expired and the was no one else on site at the time. Looking around the gym, atleast half the clips on machines are faulty and do not close properly. Considering clips only cost a couple of pounds, this could have been easily avoided. I absolutely love this gym but very disappointed that this has happened especially with how long I’ve been going there. The staff member onsite said there is nothing they can do about the clips, “the owner won’t take action”. I heard nothing back from Kings Gym for 4 days, and once I finally got contacted, I got told to come to the gym so we could work out an agreement… once I got there, they offered me a jumper that they usually sell for £35 which I did not accept and I expressed how disgusted I was with that poor excuse of a resolution… Not even a free membership for a couple of months. Be mindful of the clips when going to Kings Croydon.

Love this gym for strength training, but it needs work. The people and atmosphere make this what it is.

The problem is the equipment: dumbbells are mixed all over the racks and it makes your workout frustrating (known problem for a long time which shows how careless management is), the staff need to step up here, and some of the cables are tired and either fixed with some tape or out of order.

I used to go to this gym but had to leave because of how uncomfortable it became. If you’re a younger woman, I wouldn’t recommend it. The amount of staring and creepy behavior from some of the older men was honestly disturbing. I was followed around once, and I constantly felt watched, which made it really hard to focus on working out. I also saw a group of guys staring and talking about a really young girl who looked super uncomfortable, it was gross. At times men would go into the women’s only room and just linger around the area which was off putting. On top of that, some of the staff weren’t very friendly or helpful, which just added to the bad experience. I didn’t feel safe there, so I had to stop going. It is a shame because I actually like the gym itself.
