It was my first time visiting the IOE and I couldn’t find a water machine. I went to the cafe for drinking water and she said that they don’t do free drinking water despite by law they have to. I then asked her where the water machine is she said everywhere as if that would be helpful.

Good lecture rooms/classrooms but the building itself is an overcrowded labyrinth, and seems to be perpetually under renovation...

I went to the Institute of Education on January 23rd, 2024 for an appointment with my former MA "PERSONAL SUPERVISOR". I have never seen such nasty, stupid, rude people at a reception desk position in my 51 years of living. The former MA supervisor was having some kind of break down and apparently couldn't handle any papers in her JOB DESCRIPTION. I SAW NO EVIDENCE OF ANY GOOD TEACHERS OR ANYONE INTERESTED IN A GOOD EDUCATION. WAS TREATED BADLY.

I attended a short course and it was absolutely brilliant. The instructor was very knowledgeable and experienced, so was the best person to deliver the course! There was also a practical, hands-on session, which was fab. I felt very "looked-after" even though there were building works going on - from the security at the entrance of the building who directed me to the room to the team who delivered the course. Refreshments were good too. A great experience.

The security staff showed 0 respect to their students.
Rude, and cocky.
The irony is they now in their new blue jacket writing “campus experience team”.
The IOE has been refurbished, but sadly not the security team’s behaviours.

I am almost completing my PGCE here, and I want to say that my course leader Graham Griffiths has been really supportive, and helped me learn, recognise so much in a short timeframe. So thank you UCL, IOE.

While this school may be ranked well in Education and might have some good instructors (so I've heard) the admissions department is the most disorganized department I've encountered at any university. I was accepted to this university and requested deferred entry. The negative issues with admissions was constant. Paperwork mixed up; e-mails were consistently ignored (had to resort to chasing down three or four different people for answers-terrible!), then after my year of deferment was up was told very casually that this hadn't been recorded in their system and they even asked me to provide proof of acceptance!! (You are admissions, aren't you the ones who should be keeping track of student records, not me?!!). They next told me I could then start in January, then was told "oh no, that program isn't taking students in January anymore". No warning, nothing.

I'm actually quite pleased after all since I've now decided to take another offer with a different and much higher ranking/prestigious university in London with more interesting programs,:with admissions staff who actually give a damn, are helpful and communicate; ;and they offer better financial aid scholarships. UCL-Institute of Education might be good at Education, but that is about all. They aren’t ranked on the Times Higher ranking system, which speaks volumes. I DEFINITELY WOULD NOT recommend this university based on my experiences; in fact I'm quite SURE most of the reviews written here are fake and could quite possibly be administrative staff working there.
