Travelled to Ambleside for the day, and usual trip to Gaynor's. Have had a pair of Mountain Equipment Ibex trousers for some years and thought I would treat myself to a new pair. They had my size in black, but loved the Anvil Grey colour, unfortunately they didn't have my size on display.

Spoke to one of the assistants (apologises I didn't catch her name) who said that all they had were out on display, but then checked and said that they had just had a delivery of the Ibex in the colour I liked and to give them 30 minutes or so to unpack the delivery and put the stock on display.

Went for a coffee, and returned about 40 minutes later, to find the assistant had put the only pair in the size I wanted to one side for me. Great customer service, thank you!

Excellent outdoor clothing shop to do business with, had to use their customer service due to delivery problems. Faultless communication and quickly resolved, many thanks Meg. Would definitely use again but request an alternative delivery company .

Had to return a Down Jacket that I purchased as a present. Unfortunately it was too small, the staff were so helpful no hassle swapped it for a bigger size. I can't fault this place and I shop here regularly, always great bargains to be had and the staff are so helpful ?

Staff are just not very friendly, and prices aren't any better than the smaller local stores. They also get really aggressive over dogs even though every single other place has a dogs welcome policy for walkers. It's just weird, frankly.

I make a point to visit this shop everytime I'm at the Lake District, and have left with something almost everytime. Always bargains to have if you know what you're looking for!

I have overheard some customers asking staff for boot/ backpack fitting advice and can't say that I feel the staff were the most knowledgeable though.

Best outdoor shop ever. The basement has incredible discounts especially on Osprey backpacks. It beats all the other Ambleside hiking shops by a mile - very helpful and friendly staff.

A friendly and well stocked shop. Always worth setting aside some time for a visit, as there are many rails of sale items to sift through, which isn't a quick endeavour. Be aware also, parking isn't available at the store, so you'll be parked nearby, possibly incurring a charge, so factor that into your visit.

Came to Ambleside to get kitted out.
Turned away at the door because they are not dog friendly, and this is in a store at the heart of the Lake District where a lot of visitors come with their dogs.
We spent our money in several other more welcoming stores in the town.
