I have been a student at DiscoG Coding Academy for 8 years, and it has been such an incredible journey. The atmosphere is truly homely, making it a place where you not only learn, but also feel genuinely supported.

Thanks to Gerard's expertise and guidance, I achieved a perfect 70/70 in my Computer Science A-level coursework, which contributed to 20% of my overall grade. Gerard's many years of experience shine through in his teaching, making even the most complex of concepts understandable. Kat adds a vibrant energy to the classes, making each session exciting and engaging.

What sets DiscoG apart is that it's more than just a place to learn how to code -- it's a true mentorship experience. Gerard and Kat have guided me not only in coding but also in life skills, by encouraging me to explore the parallels between Classics and Computer Science, for instance. Their dedication to their students' growth is unparalleled, and I cannot recommend DGCA enough. If you're looking for a place that nurtures both your coding skills and personal development, DGCA is the place to be.

I write this review in sadness at the realisation that weekly classes for me have ended as I now move onto university, but I am reminded of the incredible students at DGCA, whose passion and creativity make me hopeful for the future of coding. I’m excited to see the next generation of coders and pioneers thrive, and I look forward to visiting often and contributing to this ever-growing community.

Disco G Coding Academy is an amazing place to learn not only how to code for school, but how to code for life. Gerard and Kat are truly amazing at teaching and have a wealth of resources and knowledge. They’ve helped me learn computer science throughout my A-Levels and GCSEs, and the lessons have been a perfect mix of fun and informative. I would highly recommend DiscoG regardless if your a master at coding, or are really interested to learn how to code from scratch. Since joining in 2017 Kat and Gerrard were nothing but helpful and were kind. They loved to add that element of fun to coding which made the journey so enjoyable. They have helped me achieve an A in GCSE Computer Science and I have recently achieved 70/70 on my A Level Coursework.

I highly recommend DGCA! I began my journey there in Year 6, knowing nothing about coding. My inquisitive mind had countless questions, many of which were off-topic, but the supportive environment helped me thrive.

The teaching style at DGCA is tailored to suit all age groups and abilities. Younger students are introduced to coding through digital art, while older students tackle real-life scenarios with their coding skills.

Personally, I excelled the most during the COVID lockdown. Without Gerard and Kat's help, I would not have achieved a 9 in my GCSE Computer Science. Their support and feedback were incredible, motivating me to keep pushing forward. I've continued with them through my A-levels, and although I haven't received my final grades yet, their assistance with both my coursework and exams has been invaluable. Gerard’s guidance was particularly instrumental in helping me achieve 68/70 in my coursework, putting me in a strong position. It’s crazy to think I started not knowing what a print statement does, to being able to develop a fully working application.

During the summer, I volunteered at the centre to assist in classes, which eventually led to a paid position. Experiencing both sides, I’ve seen students enjoy the centre and make significant progress through hard work. My time at DGCA has equipped me with not only academic skills but also personal growth.

The content is carefully designed to challenge students and cover all aspects of a topic. Gerard and Kat are always incredibly helpful and exceptional at what they do. Their dedication to each student's success is evident in their tailored teaching methods and their unwavering support.

I believe the highlight of DGCA is their IGCSE course (for year 10’s). This course allows students to sit for the Computer Science GCSE externally if their school doesn’t offer it, providing a fantastic opportunity for those passionate about the subject. However, I must warn you that this course is not for the faint-hearted. It demands significant dedication, hard work, and determination. With Gerard and Kat’s exceptional support, guidance, and resources, success is practically guaranteed. The rewards are immense, and witnessing students go through this rigorous process to achieve their goals is truly inspiring.

I wholeheartedly recommend the centre to anyone curious about coding or computer science. I am confident you will love it just as much as I did.

With new courses in AI, electronics, and robotics, now is the perfect time to start your coding journey and ‘learn the language that writes the future’.

It's a shame that the rating is limited to 5 stars because in my view Gerard and Kat's quality of teaching, commitment and dedication to their students journeys far exceeds the 5 stars.
My daughter began her Computer Science GCSE journey with Gerard slightly on the back foot with limited coding experience having only done holiday classes at Disco G. Gerard and Kat supported her with every tool and facility they could to develop her practical experience to prepare for the GCSE she has now taken a year early. The teaching of the course was also very structured and Gerard had regular checkpoints with the students and parents too on progress, areas of strength and areas where additional focus was needed.
In summary, teaching was great, communication with students and parents was superb and my daughter actually misses the rapport with Gerard, Kat and the rest of her class.

I cant recommend Disco G highly enough!

Kat and Gerard really inspire a passion for coding and computer science. The centre is fun, safe and welcoming and my kids look forward to their weekly class.
We found that the teaching with them was far more superior and more relevant than their school curriculum, giving our kids skills needed today.
