I stayed here as a teenager when on an air cadet camp for a few nights. I’m my 30s now and I still remember coming here. We had only a few girls on our trip so the two of us were placed in the officers mess to sleep - that accommodation was good but the other accommodation for the boys was just in billets out of the 1950s: cold, damp and smelly - not very nice at all. We didn’t eat here we lived off ration packs which was probably lucky to be honest I’m not sure the food would’ve been nice anyway. I just remember yomping miles carrying heavy kit all weekend and being covered in mud, freezing cold and exhausted. We were also woken during the night to take part in a night exercise which was great fun but also scary when you don’t have a clue where you are on where you are going. We had no real training here just left to get on with what we wanted to do. It’s a good facility but could do with serious upgrade.

Terrible in every sense. Food is bland and of a low standard. Not enough plug sockets in the multi occupancy rooms for modern living. No WiFi to allow work laptops to be used.. You have to keep the shower buttons physically depressed to allow water to come out not on slow release to allow for 20 seconds at a time. And the maintenance staff have a real chip on their shoulders and treat the customers like idiots where I would suggest its the other way round. Just terrible. Its a shame ebecause the training area is great.
