I spent five years studying at Concord as a day student and personally enjoyed it a lot on the whole. Although there is undoubtedly a fair amount of academic pressure which may not suit everyone, I felt that there was good support available, both academically and beyond. There is a great amount of knowledge across all departments of the college which staff were happy to share in my experience, particularly in sixth form. The campus itself is lovely with most buildings having been updated fairly recently – it can be a bit of a trek to reach as a day student with the bus only catering to residents in Shrewsbury. Overall, I am glad for my time at Concord – it pushed me to grow both academically and personally before going out into the world.

There is no work life balance, you may think sending your child for exams every Saturday is beneficial but it’s not. We all end up at university but the difference is, kids at concord spend their time studying their teenage years away and don’t get a chance at a normal teenage experience. You don’t need to have exams every Saturday since age of 13 to go to a good uni, and you don’t need to go to a top uni for it to be a good uni. All Russel groups are the same. I knew so many kids who were depressed because of how academically intense and isolating the school is. Every kid I knew didn’t like it or hated it there. Also Not a place for day students. They cater to only boarders needs and because the ratio of boarders insanely outweigh day students, the day students feel really left out. Most of the day students I knew felt this way. I would never send my kids to a school like this, kids deserve to live a normal teenage experience not one filled with only studying.

Good facilities and quiet environment. A little far from major cities. Academic staff seems decent. However, most of the students are very mediocre. Only their parents have exceptional deep pockets. Not a place for smart kids.

Today, with my business Immersive Theatres, I delivered a 5m digital planetarium experience to 70 Year 9 - Year 12 students at Concord College. I was warmly welcomed by the teacher when I arrived who helped me set up in the sports hall. The day was well-organised with all groups arriving on time. The excited but respectful students enjoyed a rich selection of content: peering up at the planetarium night sky reviewing the celestial sphere and learning about the dawn of the Space Age; the search for life on planets and exoplanets; the detailed nature of fractals and the hot & energetic Universe. Thank you Concord College for a very pleasant visit.

What a fantastic school, is all one can say my daughter has flourished and done exceptionally well here the staff are just the best the head mr Hawkins is the most approachable head with a interest in every student, all the communication is spot on any issues are dealt with quickly and efficiently making this the best learner Ni environment I have ever experienced.
