Very disappointing support and mental health awareness despite a rather large department for such. Misunderstanding of behaviours related to mental health and how best to support. Lacking a person-centred, respectful approach to individual students. Would not recommend unless ethos changes.

Many shortfalls despite their results. Some teachers are fab but many pick faults and escalate minor matters (which for 80's kids like me were very normal behaviours). It's not a good environment for spirited or SEN children. The biggest disappointment for our family is the poor attitude (not all teachers as noted) and the lack of context and reasonable solutions to matters. The non-inclusive and elitist culture created by the leadership is definitely not for us.

Let me just say, nothing can beat some of the conversations that have taken place at this school.
Mr Nicoll is probably the most open but the most genuine, bulliable (yes, I am making that a word) teacher and it’s wholesome.
Mr Kerley has a reputation but don’t let it fool you, he’s the most entertaining paired with Mr Dickens, the inseparable duo with chaotic neutral energy, both favourable who have an amazing attitude and make college life much more pleasant.
To continue the Mr Holland slander, let’s quote my favourite saying of his “Intersex is an identity, not a sex” when asked about chromosomes.
Mr Parker being one of the staple teachers at school, while upholding his reputation like Mr Kerley, he’s also probably the best History teacher and mentor in my opinion.
Mr Russell, Mr Gray and Dr Evans all having the same type of energy, while sometimes jokingly bullies, really care about their work and charm people into the Computer Sciences.
Mr Hunt is probably the most pleasant Maths teacher, although I haven’t been taught enough by others, Mr Ward being quite pressuring but actually very enticing due to his work ethic, being quite infamous for making others cry which in my opinion, he’s not mean unless you wanna have a go and find out.
The three star is only really upheld by some of the teachers, but some of the teachers are either not worth mentioning or I haven’t got enough knowledge of them to comment.
I don’t have enough time to mention everyone, but anyone who makes school a bit more bearable, I thank you.
Other than that, the headmaster, is… very strange. If you come here you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about. There are too many controversies about him which really doesn’t help his already diminished reputation.
Id say this school is okay, not bad but not too good either, it’s just your average school. Also, side note, I recommend picking GCSEs based on what you want to do, but try and move away from the ones that you know teachers will not make enjoyable or worth your time.

This school is a great place to pursue a good future, the G.C.S.E results are outstanding and the outcome of the students occupation has really shown how good this school is . 😃

This is a brilliant secondary school, if you live in Rutland. It's pretty spacious, so there aren't large crowds. The teachers here where really helpful and friendly, they helped me to turn from a D grade student, into a C grade student (but most of it was my own hard work). Don't listen to one or two star reviews on this school, as they are just ex-student annoyed at the school (for some reason). Also the architecture of this school is really impressive.

Updated after ~4 months. Dickens is a staple of the catmose college science department, making the subjects bearable whilst making it possible to cover the entire history of physics in a single lesson. Kerley remains as one of the most Interesting people in the school and paired with Dickens makes arguably the most iconic duo... I'll wait. Biology is and always will be the dullest subject. Not a single teacher can make it Interesting apart from the now unavailable Mr Holland who famously quoted 'animals are fish' discovering perhaps the most revolutionary discovery of all time. Computer science. With newly acquired Martin Russell the computer science department perhaps is the best department in the entire school. Because of there work I am going to take a-level computer science. Top tier subject. English is the department with amongst my friends the most debated. Julianne Rann is one of the single nicest people I have ever met and made english an actually good subject. Something which is reportedly mimicked by most other english teachers all of which are wonderful people. Maths has the good the bad and the ugly. Andy Ward is a lad and a brilliant teacher. Rhys Jones is Meh at teaching but a pretty nice guy. Joe peveritt is jokes and solved the final question on the 2022 maths paper 1, minutes after mr bell and mr Austin had completed it. Music is such a fun subject. Enhanced by the likes of Ben Stevenson and Mr Stark (not Tony Stark).
