A lovely shopping centre. However, there are a few empty shops. A lovely area on the top floor with a burger place, a place that serves hot baguettes (highly recommend, I had the beef brisket stuffing and gravy baguette), a bar, and a pizza place. Toilets and baby changing also on the same level.

It's fascinating to observe the complete transformation of the Mall since its inception in the early 90s. Many of the stores that are now prominent in the mall were previously not welcomed in what was then known as Castle Mall, which was quite the hotspot back in the day. Retailers that could be classified as discount stores were not considered suitable for the mall's upscale image, as it aimed to attract a more affluent clientele.

Interestingly, I learned from a fortunate retail owner at the time that even TK Maxx faced challenges in establishing a presence in the Mall due to these restrictions!

The shift has been remarkable, especially following the opening of Chapplefield Mall, which drew in major high street fashion retailers, many from the Castle Mall, and changed the landscape entirely.

Despite these changes, I remain a regular visitor to the mall, particularly during the winter months when the cold makes the high street less appealing. The Mall has become a comfortable shopping destination for me, showcasing how it has adapted over the years while still catering to its visitors.

If the occupancy rate had been higher, I would have given a 5-star rating.

Unfortunately this seems to have lost a lot of sparkle. The Food Hall seemed to be shut and a lot of the bigger stores have gone. I remember this being a very busy place. They is a coffee shop and a few other stores but not like its hey day.

My last visit was around 2008. It is much different now. I wonder if it was the pandemic that caused many of the stores to close or if people have just become too lazy to leave home to go shopping, which caused many of the stores to close...

Either way, people are most definitely lazier and fatter than ever.

I walked in, toured the entire mall, farted in the presence of several beautiful women, and then went home. I'll be back when I have more time.
