I really enjoyed my 1 week introduction to tiling course with Ryan and Gary. The course was very well presented, extremely practical and enjoyable . As a complete novice to tiling, Ryan and Gary were always on hand to answer any questions I had. They also had copious amount of patience to repeat things. They were always friendly and supportive throughout the course. I definitely learned so much over the 5 days. It was so worth the investment and I would highly recommend it to anyone considering becoming a tiler or even a multi trade operative.
Thank you Ryan and Gary. You guys rock!

I completed the Intro to Painting and Decorating course (over 2 weekends) with instructor Mark. It was amazing value for money and I came away after the two weekends with invaluable skills which I can apply in my new house. The course covered removing wallpaper, preparing walls, wallpapering and painting both walls and woodwork. Mark was fantastic and always willing to take random questions about specific issues / problems I had with rooms in my home. He explained things very well and provided helpful feedback throughout. Everyone else on the various courses were lovely. I couldn't recommend highly enough - worth every penny.

As a woman going into a male-dominated space, I was really nervous before I started the Introduction to Painting & Decorating course at Able Skills. However, it was honestly one of the most positive experiences I've had on a training course, and so valuable for such a reasonable price.
Mark, the tutor, was a fountain of knowledge and was so patient and supportive in his teaching, willingly adapting his approach if I didn't quite understand something.
Everyone on the course was lovely and supportive too, offering praise and guidance and asking for feedback from me on their own work.
As someone with some experience in painting, this course was particularly valuable in solidifying the foundations of my knowledge. I'd definitely recommend it to someone who already has some painting knowledge and is looking to develop their practice further, but I think it would benefit anyone who is serious about going into the P&D trade.
I gained so much confidence and I will definitely be booking more courses with them in the future. A faultless experience, I cannot recommend Able Skills enough!

What a top-notch course! Competitive price, located in the south east (which is rare!). The set-up and admin was simple, very helpful, even found a space in their accommodation at short notice. The course covered all aspects I was hoping for and more. The tutors were knowledgeable from real life experience, helpful and keen on the work, you could tell they really wanted you to be as good as you can when you leave. I'm really pleased, so much so that I'm considering completing the City & Guilds with them or doing some other courses. Great stuff, thank you 🙂

Introduction to Tiling
My key objective was for this 1 week course was to learn how to set out my tiles correctly and give a good level symmetrical finish.
(big ask for just 1 week!) however this course is very "hands on" Day 1;after a short tutorial/demo by Ryan we were all tiling our own areas, I was surprised what a difference this made to the learning experience. the subsequent days were full and intense.
By Day5 I had learned how to tile around electrical sockets, windows and angled walls. I thoroughly enjoyed this course all my objectives were met and more. I would recommend this course if your a DIY tiler or a complete novice Ryan will get you tiling like a pro.

Introduction to Plastering 1 Week
Plastering has always been a mystery to me! My objectives for this 1 week course was to be able to fix small patches of wall at home. Neil at Able Skills advised me just to trust him and he would make me a plasterer... facilities and the training environment is great. Fully "hands on" after just 1 day I was able to plaster a ceiling and wall and the plaster stayed on the wall! Neil is a great instructor, all my objectives and more were met. By day 5 the finish on my wall was amazing, thoroughly enjoyed the course. We even had experience on rendering too! thanks Neil.

Introduction to Painting and Decorating 1 week
I had done some painting and wall papering experience prior to this course, I wanted to enhance my standards to allow me to confidently take on work knowing my client would be left with a professional job and would recommend me to others.
In the 5 days (which flew by!) I prepared walls for wall papering with lining paper (horizontally and vertically, painted the walls, painted a ceiling, prepared a door and produced the best gloss finish ever (For me!)
Wall papered with patterned paper (learning the technique to keep an accurate 360 line around the room. (and many other tips and techniques on how to produce a professional finish).
Great course recommend this to enhance your P&D skills or an short intro to what it is all about. Thanks to Mark for his great guidance.

I have just completed my week training for 2391-052 course. My Tutor, Trevor, was very knowledgeable and was great at presenting the course and going into depth with difficult topics when needed. I passed the online theory exam with the help of Trevor, and the student work pack!

I recently completed the Level 2 Plumbing course at Able Skills, and I have to say it was an absolutely amazing experience! The 6 weeks flew by, and I learned so much in that short time. The course is well-structured, and the environment is fantastic for anyone serious about gaining practical plumbing skills.

A huge shoutout to our tutor, Mike, who was not only incredibly knowledgeable but also made the lessons engaging and easy to follow. He kept the atmosphere light with his jokes and ensured everyone stayed focused, making what could have been a tough course both enjoyable and educational.

I also want to mention the admin and reception staff, who were equally fantastic. Dan, in particular, was an absolute gentleman—super friendly and always willing to help with any questions or concerns.

If you’re thinking of learning plumbing, I honestly can’t recommend Able Skills enough. It’s worth every penny, and I would encourage anyone interested in plumbing to sign up. You won’t regret it!
