Of late I have been asked about Academy if science and technology by my friends circle since my older son went there 5 years back. My honest opinion, it’s not worth it. When my son went there, there were decent teachers but towards junior year we realized college park had better teachers and the students were performing better there. My son also expressed his input that he had terrible experience there.
Coming to the current time, I did some digging and found out that lot of good teachers have left the Academy and it’s getting worse . The principal of Academy is all talk and no good.
The top 6% is auto admission in Texas. College park kids get into this more than Academy.
So , go to college park or woodkands high and avoid Academy @ any cost!

I had a good experience as a student. It prepared me to pursue an engeering career. We were a tight social cohort. Several are still close friends. The Academy is also fairly competitive at the highest levels in all the academics competitions: robotics, Destination Imagination, and Science Fair.

The teaching staff, while well qualifed in their field, is on the whole sub-par at teaching effectively. The facilities feel lower quality than the rest of the school, and there is a mess of red tape between the administration of College Park and the administration of the AST. These factors make it a very poor experience.
