My partner and I went to check out Discovering42 as a place to possibly visit with the grandchildren. It was really cool, with brilliant interactive things to do, it's like a tardis!! Lovely little cafe as well, but again, just that but different! We will definitely be going back with the children!!

This was our 4th visit over the space of a few years and I cannot rate it highly enough. We have always ended up spending way longer than 90 minutes, perhaps because I have a curious, playful and interested child or perhaps because we take time to read the instructions, explanations and prompts for each installation/exhibit to fully engage with it. Yesterday we were also appreciative of the gentle but enabling explanations and assistance from all three of the extremely personable and helpful young people working there. Adam in particular was highly engaging and friendly, quickly understanding our needs and offering helpful insights. Another young man kindly set up the brilliantly bonkers crawling barbie for us without being too “in your face” and my daughter also enjoyed making the gaseous and unique mocktail with another staff member.
We particularly enjoyed a new installation- the interactive sand tray. My 9 year old daughter spent over an hour (in two bursts) on this alone - as an ex-teacher I could easily see how educational it was (science, geography), therapeutic, sensory, co-operative but most of all fun!
Having read (an extremely small) number of not so positive reviews of Discovering 42, I can only conclude that only boring people would be able to visit this place and not be fascinated. Perhaps folks are too used to instant gratification in this screen age and don’t persevere enough to e.g. try to get four balls spinning on the spinning disc or make bonkers Barbie crawl. Reading the prompts and explanations may also assist if you find yourself frustrated. Well done to the Discovering 42 for never failing to provide a brilliant afternoon out.

We've had a brilliant time with our 2 grandchildren (4 & 6)We booked 11.30 slot and left at 3.15 after enjoying all the activities several times over and sampling delicious chocolate cake and coffee in the cafe, where the children also enjoyed making (and drinking!) the mocktails . Lovely staff, helpful and informative and great with children. We will definitely return and highly recommend !!

My granddaughters (7 & 8yrs) and I had a brilliant time. The girls thoroughly enjoyed interacting with so many different installations. We were there for just over 2 hours and they would happily have stayed longer. This was an excellent way to engage their minds in a fun, informative & imaginative way. I highly recommend it. Excellent value for money.

Amazing rainy day activity for the family. We had an absolutely lovely time, and my four year old asked whether we could come back again soon. Sadly, we live in South London and we’re on holiday here, so it’s not on the cards, but if we were local we’d come back a lot! The atmosphere in the cafe was lovely, the interactive exhibitions were varied and fascinating, there was nothing not to like.

Absolutely fantastic place to visit. So unique. Great fun and educational for adults and kids (we were all fascinated by everything). Staff are very informative, friendly, welcoming and nothing was too much trouble (even the oat milk latte was tip top, thanks Roy ?). Shane aced his first time leading the free plastic recycling workshop which the kids loved doing. Would like to see more places like this and would definitely recommend a visit.
