My son has been attending the one off GCSE English Literature Master Classes this week (Feb half term).
The classes are very informative and Barbara sends through detailed information regarding the lesson, so that the attendees are able to get the most out of it.
These lessons are good value for money, are well moderated and Barbara takes the time to answer any queries.

The lessons are geared up to pupils in year 10 and 11.

My child is only in year 9, so has a while before he sits his exams yet, but these classes will stand him in good stead and he already knows the storylines/poetry concepts and some of the key elements.

The communication from First Rate Tutors has also been top notch, with relevant information and speedy responses!

Best English teacher ever, was struggling in my mocks getting 4s and 5s and results day SCREAMING that I got 9s in language and literature. Only a month until GCSE I joined her online classes and her advice is priceless. Barbara has been the greatest English teacher I have ever had and has provided me with support, knowledge, and confidence for my A-Level English language exams. Unbelievable! Can’t be happier!!!
Today my son got his GCSE results and he got 6 in both English Literature and Language. When he started with Barbara he was at 2 as I have mentioned in my previous review. In 6-7 months she managed to bring him up to this level. I bet the result would have been even better if I had started bit earlier. She is very talented and capable of handling even weaker students like my son. Her efforts and my son’s hard work under her guidance helped him achieve this. One last thing I would like to say that my son was in the right hands.

Couple of months back I watched some of the lessons Barbara (First Rate Tutor) had posted on YouTube. I was very impressed and then purchased access to online material on her website. The videos were very helpful. But as my son is going to appear for GCSE in 2024 and needed some quick help I contacted Barbara and asked for 1-2-1 lesson. I am very thankful to her that she agreed to find some time out of her busy schedule to teach him. She is a great tutor. Her knowledge of the both English Language and Literature is exceptional. She has a very professional approach and exam oriented. My son enjoys her teaching and is showing great improvement. He has moved up from 2 to grade 5. Hope it gets even better in coming months. I would definitely recommend Barbara for English tutoring.

My daughter has had private and group online English lessons with Barbara to prepare for GCSE English language and literature and has benefited hugely. Barbara is the most amazing inspirational teacher; she is highly experienced, very organised and knowledgeable but most importantly very engaging even on screen. She is very explicit in how to answer the questions and models how to write top grade answers which are so useful. We feel so lucky to have found Barbara and have such good preparation for these demanding exams.
