Hi,
Today I have visited the workshop at Chelsea, and want to leave feedback as I think it may be important.
My expectations about everything were much higher, and I am really unsatisfied with what I just was a part of.
At first, we were asked to bring a portfolio that had to show the range of work we can produce, I brought it, and no one even asked me if I wanted to show it or attempted to look through it, however there were works that are rated at GCSE Grade 9.
Secondly, my biggest complaint is towards the department of my course(Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative media production and technology(Games art, design and animation), because as I have heard from my friend, they were told everything and given a clue of what their course is about.
I have 3 main points which I was very unhappy with:
1. No one told me what am I going to do in the next 2 years of my life, I did not receive any useful information and therefore I am really confused and irritated.
2. No one showed me any examples of what I am going to be doing.
3. During the workshop, we were given absolutely useless and pointless task to do, which i threw into the bin as soon as i walked out the building, no one explained the purpose of it.
As a conlusion, I could say that I regret wasted time and effort I put into this day.

New Years day stepping found a rebrand for former college on the site of Chelsea Boys Secondary Modern school. A pupil during the early eighties the ten non uniform learners joined Hurlingham Girls. Variant ethos of each school presented extra challenges.
The former Adult Education institute ran classes in Tai Chi Chuan taught by senior instructors of the Lam Association. One, Lydia Cynthia Mrwebe was immortalised in a scene of the feature film Wilt.
Sloane and Carlisle buildings and playground features are largely ghosted for regeneration.

REALLY GOOD WITH A SINGLE EXCEPTION.

Lets start with the good, most the teachers here are a really friendly and helpful, I’ve learnt a lot at this college and don’t regret my time here however there is one teacher who is stopping me from giving Morley college a higher rating.

The teacher Shaune has been nothing a pain to me and others at the Chelsea centre. From the start Shaune was put in charge of a course he is not qualified to teach. While some degree of art is beneficial to do in a game design course, the first 2 and a half months we were being taught German expressionism, long and slow Photoshop sessions and a poorly taught workshops in Maya where he barely understood the software more than we did.

Shaune then scrapped that whole unit (wasting 2 and a half months of our time and work) before giving as a new unit to do instead before leaving for the rest of the year only returning once he was replaced, while I wish that was the end of how he soured my final year here there’s unfortunately more.

Shaune has a bad ego and a hostile attitude problem that doesn’t discriminate between students or other members of staff. Shaune constantly talks down to his peers when they offer to help students and treated us with little respect. Examples of this would be shouting and sending a female student home for not talking of her coat when she had a wardrobe malfunction (she told him she was uncomfortable taking it off and was crying when I saw her after the class) saying it was breaking the dress code at Morley college when no such rules exist and he in fact also where’s coats indoors (and as this was happening) he then quickly changed topics ignoring me when I called him out. He has made multiple creepy comments to both male and female students throughout the year making them uncomfortable sometimes with sexual undertone which is concerning considering the age gap between students and teachers, similar behaviour continued with me when he took me away from everyone else and said he not speaking to me as a teacher to students but from ‘man to man’ in a threatening tone, I have also been shouted at for bad posture while working on a Friday afternoon (I was not in anyone’s way or talking to anyone just doing my work) Shaune also continued to work and mess up the coding for my FMP (even when I left the class) when all I asked for was help getting rid of an error (he didn’t fix anything and I had to spend an hour the next day undoing his work, he made my coding worse while also being as condescending as possible) and he always failed to understand simple game design features and concepts making him unable to help students in the course yet alone teach it (you don’t HAVE to be a gamer to teach this course but you should at least understand what industry standard UI/UX design has been for the last 20 years without having it explain several times by you know...the student...the one your supposed to be teaching not the other way around)

Overall my first 2 years were good enough to where I don’t remember any of the problems I might of had however because of Shaune I cannot say the same for my third year here and I strongly believe Morley college Chelsea would be better off with him (someone rude, creepy, unqualified and who is so bluntly disrespectful as much as he try’s to hide it) as his a bad fit and doesn’t align with values Morley college so eagerly sets out to establish.

I wouldnt rate the college low in terms of the curriculum but would in regards to everything else wouldnt dare put it past 2 stars. I joined September 2023 to my course that I had chosen cancelled all i was told days before was to come in and chose a new course fine i accepted the course could not be ran due to lack of students however better communication would of helped. I put this passed me and got on with my new course with very little knowledge behind it but tried and within the first day there was issues as the college was being reconstructed causing wifi outages and in general the room i was situated in did not have any wifi or if it did it was very minimum . Once again I continued however I highlighted to my tutor that I had issues with my attendance due to certain reasons which were taken into account which I thought very well of as it felt like the college if I had any issues would support me however I was ever so wrong these issues really affected me in November and I highlighted this to my tutor and received little communication from him . This left me annoyed , disheartened or merely disappointed at this as the college was big on speaking out if you had issues but it felt like I was brushed to aside . I refused to attend for over a month after this I wanted to schedule a meeting for me to leave the college. Here is the joke I was scheduled a meeting on nov 29th and to my avail the tutor never showed up why well coincidently there was staff absences something so serious brushed away then waited till Jan 10th for a message basically wishing me well with no meeting , no phone call , absolutely nothing . If your like me who believed they made the best option to use this college as a stepping stone to a career dont luckily enough ive found my own way into the working world and am enjoying 1000x more than attending this college

The mere fact that the very own Staff posts reviews here to increase the rating is pitiful but after my experience I can understand why they might resort to such measures: I have signed up and paid for a short course on March 26 th and I received a blanket email the very same day with basic info and IT ID number.

First evening of my class I travel one hour to get to the Campus and when I arrived the place is absolutely empty.
At the Reception desk I find two rude and sexists security guards speaking very poor English to match their poor manners.
One of them tells me that my course is not on his list and walks away without an explanation, the other turns his back to me and ignores me from then on.
The reason why I say that they obviously have a problem dealing with women is that while I was there a man approached the desk and both of them stopped dealing with me and they were all over him like if he was giving away oxygen and I have seen that kind of attitude before....
Eventually I was pathetically escorted upstairs where a short investigation involving some kinder women determined that my course was cancelled the day after I signed up for it and nobody bothered to let me know or refund me for the fee...
Shoulda woulda coulda then started, I should have received a text message, email, refund, they normally are pretty good at these things, so sorry about that, blah blah blah.
An email was sent while I was there, supposedly to start a refund process that after two working days has not made any progress.

Dulcis in fundo on my way out nobody replied to my goodbye so I am convinced that the two men at the desk are very overdue in their refresher training on courtesy and basic hospitality...

What a joke, overall despite being in the heart of Chelsea this is a third world facility as far as I am concerned!

Kensington and Chelsea college was definitely one of the best experiences of my life, and the decision to study there really turned my life around. I studied the Access to Humanities course last year which currently offers a diverse range of subjects, including Anthropology and African and Caribbean studies which are difficult to find taught anywhere else.

The teachers are especially helpful and supportive, particularly for students who need additional help. There are students of all ages and backgrounds, and it was very easy to make friends in such a relaxed environment.

I would definitely recommend this college to all prospective students! I am now studying Anthropology at UCL which I never thought I'd be able to achieve as a mature student, and this is all thanks to my learning experience Kensington and Chelsea college.

My experience with the Kensington and Chelsea College has been exceptional. I have just finished my Access to Higher Education course and I am ecstatic to to start my university degree. Being a foreign national that has been out of education for considerable time and working, I did not dream of being able to go to university. Therefore I can't thank you enough for all the hard work, assistance and encouragement that all the Access to HE team has put into ensuring that I am able to successfully finish my course. Admittedly, it wasn't easy, it required a lot of work and I did lose confidence in myself a few times during the course. However, I was always able to receive assistance and guidance from my tutors when needed. Genuine interest from tutors was like a breath of fresh air compared to my experience with education when I was growing up. This has been one of those experiences that changes you for better, for life. Thank you very much.

The Access to Humanities Course at this college is taught by the most dedicated teachers I have come across, who spend their time actively encouraging and developing the independent study skills in all their students - vital for an effective and enjoyable experience at University.

If it was not for this course at this particular college, I would not have found something I thoroughly enjoy studying and I am convinced that the relaxed but thought-provoking environment found at this college has equipped me with the skills and drive to better myself as I continue with University and beyond.

The staff are amazing!
